i believe ice skating is a good metaphor in running in a race or being a christian. When you get your skates, they are a litte uncomftorable (getting used to church enviorment). The getting on the ice and staying up can also be a challange like stickign to your church activities, then you get the hang of it and you can follow God to the best of your abalitits

The ice skating trip truly was a good metaphor in running the race because of many reasons. I agree with Matt. At the beginning it was a comlpetely new and strange experience that took time to get used to. When you first get on the ice, there is the fear of falling. But, when you fall, you get the chance to get back up. This is just like if you might have lost faith... you can always get back on track and you will always have friends that want to help you get and stay there. There are so many more reasons why it was metaphorical and these are just some of them.

Ice skating is like your Christian journey. It wasn't that new for me because I have gone before but it was sort of a rocky start. You can be going so smooth then you fall down. I started off very smooth and fast. I was afraid of falling. I was going as fast as I can but when I rounded the the corner it was harder to keep going. I didnt like people getting to close to me but I got fine with it and it was fun and I enjoyed it.

I believe ice skating is a metaphor to "running a race" (being a Christian) because it is also a challenge. Though ice skating is more an ability you must have, anyone can learn. Like running a Christian race, you will not fully understand or know how to truly serve God in the correct way. Ice skating takes practice and when you succeed you feel as if you are a pro. Just like in a Christian race, when you fully understand God's love you can truly know that he is always with you. Therefore, I believe they relate in the way you must practice both to fully succeed.

God Bless!
